What's a License For?

Why do I need a Fishing License?
Answer: So I fish. If, that is, I can find any fish, outside of a fish farm.
Why do I need a Barber's License?
Answer: So I can cut hair and charge a fee for it.
Why do I need a Realtor's License?
Answer: So I can sell property. Not as easy as it was a few years ago, admittedly.
Why do I need a Driver's License?
Answer: So I can drive a car on public streets.

Why do Michael Chertoff and his gang think they should be able to dictate a set of security requirements to be added to these licenses?
Answer: Actually, they only want to require all this positive ID stuff for driver's licenses.
Why not require chips and fingerprints on all the other licenses as well?
Answer: Because we're idiots is why!
Here's the story:
Americans born after Dec. 1, 1964, will have to get more secure driver's licenses in the next six years under ambitious post-9/11 security rules to be unveiled Friday by federal officials. - Associated Press"

Notice this part: "The Sept. 11 attacks were the main motivation for the changes." This is a rather blatant falsehood; The government has been trying for years to find a way to reliably track its citizens. Makes 'em easier to find and detain, for whatever reason "the government", whoever that is, deems sufficient.
This is a simple way to insure that nobody can pass through
